Our Mission

It is the mission of the Brandon Police Department to maintain social order and provide professional law enforcement services to citizens in the community, within prescribed ethical, budgetary, and constitutional constraints. This department strives to enforce the law and maintain order in a fair and impartial manner, recognizing the need for justice, and the consistent appearance of justice.

We recognize that no law enforcement agency can operate at its maximum potential without supportive input from the citizens it serves. This department actively solicits and encourages the cooperation of all citizens to reduce and limit the opportunities for crime, and to assist in bringing to justice those who break the law.

Overview

The Brandon Police Department consists of 42 certified officers and 12 civilian staff who are committed to the betterment of Brandon and the safety of its citizens and their property. We strive to provide a professional and timely response to all calls for service.

Our officers have the duty and authority to enforce the laws of the State of Mississippi and ordinances of the City of Brandon within our corporate limits.

BPD Accreditation
The Brandon Police Department has been accredited by the MS Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (MSLEAC) since February 18, 2015.

Command Staff

Beau Edgington

Chief of Police

Chief Beau Edgington began his law enforcement career with the Brandon Police Department in 2003 as an officer trainee. He earned an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from Aims College, graduating with honors, and completed the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers’ Training Academy as the top graduate of his class.

Chief Edgington served as a Patrol Officer before transferring to the Criminal Investigations Division as a Detective in 2006. In 2010, he became an affiliate member of the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, specializing in digital forensics and computer crimes. That same year, he graduated from the Mississippi Certified Investigator Program.

In 2011, Chief Edgington was promoted to Detective Sergeant. He has served as a Firearms Instructor and Law Enforcement Alliance for Peer Support counselor since 2012. In 2016, he was promoted to Detective Lieutenant and Chief Investigator, overseeing the department’s Criminal Investigations Division. Beginning in 2017, he also supervised public safety operations for major city events at the Brandon Amphitheater and City Hall Live venues.

Chief Edgington completed the FBI-LEEDA Mississippi Command College in 2018. In 2022, he joined the department’s command staff as Training Coordinator and Evidence Manager. He was certified as an Active Violence Immediate Response Training Instructor in 2023.

Chief Edgington served as Assistant Chief of Police beginning in January 2024. He attended the 2026 Mississippi Law Enforcement Leadership Academy at MLEOTA and was appointed Chief of Police in 2026.
